Hi..first post :D
anyways...right now what i have in mind is the following...

- Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe or The Crosshair but i've seen a couple of bad reviews on it.
- AMD X2 6400+
- XFX 8800GTX

and the rest...HDD, opticals, RAM etc.

So far I have bought the case and the psu...
- Cooler Master Cosmos 1000
- Cooler Master Real Power 750W

I have been away from computer building for quite a while now so there are some new tech that i haven't got into yet...ie. how to set up RAID.

Anyways...what is comparable to the X2 6400+? and is it a good system?
budget atm is around 1300 (maybe a bit more depending on how much more is it) since i already have the case and PSU and don't need a monitor.

Also...i'm thinking about getting the Koolance Aquian ICM-510 for water cooling..

hi i am user hello

um ok...

but for $1300 you acn do better...

q6600
Abit IP35
8800gt
Auzentech X-Fi Card (check Tigerdirect)
Corsair 520hx
Crucial Ballistix 2gb Kit (x2)
ur PSU was a bit overkill but u already bought it
I hear problems with Airflow with that case but you already bought it
Add an OS if u need one
Add a Hard drive of the space you need
Optical Drive...

yeah go with vernong's build amd's r getting old not sayin their not good nemore it just that intel's r owning right now. q6600 best bank for ur buck cpu

awsome...so q6600 is the way..i see
i did some pricing out and came up with this setup:
Asus Striker Extreme - $299
Intel Q6600 - $279
XFX 8800GTX Extreme - $499
Kingston HyperX 4GB(2 x 2GB) - $184 (Pricey I know but i've always trusted kingston, i hate RMA's and waiting for stuff to be replaced)
**Optical drive is a LiteON (LH-20A1H-185) - $31
**HDD is WD Caviar 320GB 7200RPM (WD3200AAKS) - $80
**Sound card is included with the board

TOTAL: $1372 right on budget hehe...

(**NOTE: I know these are not the best sound cards, HDD's...but they are cheap and functional not really URGENT for a gaming system...and i can always buy a new one and have 2 HDD's or 2 opticals...dunno if u get my point)

As far as case and PSU...I read that the case was a 2007 award winner...but anyways i do plan on replacing the stock 120mm fans for 140mm and this PC is gonna be water cooled so heat is not an issue. PSU...I plan on buying another 8800GTX around Feb or March...and also by then i should have more than 1 HDD and optical drive and remember i also have to power the water cooling system (Koolance ICM-510). OS I already have bought vista a few weeks ago...

Thanks a lot for the reply though :)

I know the 680 had some issues but i did some research and ASUS didn't suffer from these issueds since they didn't deal with nVidia directly and made their one stuff.
