Acer monitor

I have an old 17" inch acer monitor. The model number is AL1711. I'm trying to use it as a secondary monitor along w/ my 226bw. When i start up the monitor the acer logo comes on for about a quarter second then a black screen comes up. After about another 3 seconds the monitor goes into standby. This problem has also occurred when this was used as a primary monitor. Suggestions?

Try a different cable...?

Not sure what to suggest if something is physically wrong with the monitor.

i had a wierd problem like that with my old benq monitor. i think i re-installed the drivers and it worked. it was very odd. it has something to do with your video card settings, i bet. but yeah, mine would do the same thing...power up, show logo screen and then to standby...just like it wasnt getting a signal at all from the card.

make sure that you have inputed the right settings for using 2 monitors

My 24" acer does that sometimes, i just have to unplug it from the power and plug it back in to reset it.

It was happening on 2 diff comps so i doubt its a vid card problem. And the first comp had it being used as a primary monitor so it cant be that. This is weird.

No its definately an issue with the acers. Its like they just forget they are hooked up sometimes. Just disconnect it the power and plug it back in.
