They used an X48 board with a QX9770.

Holy smokes that's incredible.

It's a Chinese site: HARDSPELL.COM-First X48 & QX9770 full test

wow.. you would think with the Heat Issues that chip is supposed to have.. its going to be a limiter...

Yeah, to get 5.0GHz on a Q9450, you'd have to set to the FSB to 625 o_O

I mean, you'd have to have a snazzy board to be able to break 600, I've seen a P5K do it with an E6600 though.

But yeah, as long as it can hit 4.0GHz+ on release in January/February as easily as a Q6600 can hit 3.5-3.6GHz, I'll be more than happy.

So far everyone has encountered a 450 FSB wall on the q9450 which puts it at 3.6ghz...about equivalent to a 4.0ghz q6600 so not bad, but the wall is still a shame.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :( /fail

Well remember, they did this test on a QX9650 with x8 multiplier to emulate the Q9450, however, remember that the current Yorkfields are affected by an FSB frequency integrity bug. Hopefully they'll fix this issue by time of release and we can easily see 500 fsb which'll translate into a satisfying 4.0GHz, if not more. Remember it might get delayed till February.
