Temp monitoring

I have a problem with my system - the only way i can observe the temps are through using SPeedfan, which always hangs my PC after 5 mins or resets it, which is really annoying me. I wanna overclock my system, but i cant monitor the temperatures, which leaves me totally blind as to how it is doing.
