Best gaming laptop for under $1500 (US)

Subject says it all.

Looking for the best gaming laptop for under $1500. I have absolutely no clue about laptops. This is for a friend, his full time job allows him to pretty much game or whatever all the time, so he's after a good laptop to take to work.

Any help is appreciated.

I have a Dell XPS M1710 I want to sell so I can get a new laptop. PM me for pictures and price and whatnot, I also have a Dell Inspiron 2650 but its not a gaming laptop.

I got to know a good gaming laptop the ASUS G1S-1A with 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 processor, 160 GB hard drive, 2 GB RAM (4 GB max) ,it is cool my friend got one from the www.dealstudio.com for $1637, seems a little above your friend's budget,but you can have a look at it anyway .

At the time though it's not the Gaming Laptop DELL inspiron E1705 could have been ordered with 2 Gig Ram and Nvidia 7900 GS. Actually it's cost ended up being way below your budget - about $1100 (actually I think it was less) with Core 2 Duo 1.73 and a nice 17 inch glossy screen 1400 x 900 or something like that.

Vista score rating (I have it memorized) which can be used for some basic benchmarking;

CPU 4.8
Mem 4.4
Aero Performance 5.9
Gaming Score 5.6
Hard disk transfer 5.3 (or below but not below 5)

Think about it and see if you can find the older XPS system with 7950 GTX.

download 3dmark06 that will give you a propler score not a vista score which is generally tosh

Dell Vostro 1500 and 1700 offer 8600M GT graphics and a really nice system can be built for under $1000.

At NewEgg, you can get an open-box Asus G1 with 8600M GT graphics for under $1500 (they normally cost about $1700, so you would get a great deal).
