Dual Core comparison: Wolfdale vs. Phenom X2 vs. Conroe

A German hardware magazine compared a 3 CPU types with single player benchmarks of Crysis. The E8400 which comes with 333 x 9 and 3 GHz was downclocked to 266 x 9, so it ran with the same clockspeed with the E6600 and the Phenom X4 9700 which had 2 cores disabled.

The text is in German, but the pictures speak for themselves ...

As you see Wolfdale performed the best in Crysis, and Phenom was the slowest

Whats funny is they downclocked it and it still killed them. Cant wait to see how high these things OVERclock.

i read that the wolfdale is supposed to have MUCH more overclocking headroom than penryn. i wonder how much they will be costin...?

yucky 5-5-5-18 timings they used.
Which will affect the Phenom more than the Core 2's.

I'd like to see how Phenom's run with DDR2-1066 at 4-4-4-12

That'd be nice RAM to have. Probably expensive though.

You can get DDR2-1066 RAM at 4-4-4-12 timings at stock, and it isn't that expensive.

you dont think you could down clock it to say like ddr2-950/1000 or a little lower and maintain those timings?
dude oh yeah with stock timings like that it would cost a-plenty.
i cant do stock 3-3-3-9 1T on any ddr2 ram i have ever owned. but i can do it all the time just a weeee bit under stock, or with 2T CR.
