Compy i think you mgiht be getting a few things confused. There is a difference in CDs that are marked R and RW. CD-RW are recordable disks that you can only write to and erase multiple times. That means when the disk reaches its capacity, you can erase whatever is on it and start over if you wish. CD-Rs however you can only record to and when it reaches its full capacity, that is it -- you cannot add more or erase the contents. CD-ROM disks are read only - you cannot modify or add its contents.

CD-RW drives can record data onto a CD only. In order to record data on to a DVD disk, you need a DVD-RW drive. Get it? Hope this helps.

but usually with a dvdrom, you should get free software with it . . .
