So I bought this laptop on Black Friday for $498 from WalMart. I did some research on it before I bought it because I knew about Dell's desktops and knew I needed a laptop for school. Its a Dell Inspiron 1500 w/ 2gb ram, AMD x2 2gb, 80gb hdd, ATI video card, wireless, vista...the whole she-bang.

No gripes so far, my only concern is why does the LCD screen get brighter when I plug in the battery charger. It happens about 1 - 2 seconds after I plug it in to charge. When I unplug it, the screen darkens some.

Anyone have any suggestions? I doubt that there's a setting to change this, but I could be wrong.

It is a power saving feature, if you would like, but it shortens battery life, you can push the function key and the down or up arrow keys usualy to brighten or darken the screen while it is unplugged. The brighter, the shorter the battery life.
