Ok, so recently my parents hard drive crashed and, being the nice guy that I am, volunteered to fix it. So I went to see what the problem was and windows would not boot. I popped it into my computer to see if I could recover any files and then just reformat and reinstall windows.
Well therein lies the problem.
I can see the drive but cannot access it and I get a message reading "You must reformat the drive to access" or something to that effect.

Any ideas? I just need to get a few files off for them. I have vista ultimate x64, q6600, 4gb ram, 320gb hdd, 700W ps, ip35pro, 8800gt.

Thanks!

Try using a Linux CD on it. If that doesn't work, try drive recovery software on your PC to access files on the disk. Also try running ScanDisk and defragment the drive.
