hey all,

well, ive been wanting to boost up performance and such on my box and i remember that before i did something that i could choose what does and doesnt start when windows starts up. so instead of going through processes and turn everything off, i can do it once and then be done with it. can anyone tell me how to get to this menu/window, i have completely forgotten how to.

also, anyone have a list of thing that i absolutely cannot disable from that menu?

kind regards.

Click Start > Run and type in "msconfig" (without the quotes).
Then click the "Startup" tab and uncheck programs you don't want to start on startup. (I only have my firewall and antivirus stuff there)

Also, if you click Start > Run and type in "services.msc" it brings up a list of all the services that run in the background. Many of these are optional, and some are not needed at all. I suggest finding a guide online on which ones are recommended to be disabled.
