sound card help

CREATIVE SoundBlaster Audigy2 (6.1ch/24-bit)

Does the 6.1 above mean that it only supports 6.1 or does it support up to 6.1. In other werds, is a 5.1 speaker compatible wif the above sound card? Thanx in advance.

I don't think it matters, just as long as the speakers have the same impedence. you would just be lacking 1 channel. Woop Dee Doo!!!

True dat! You can run any speaker set up up to 6.1 that you want to.

yup, any. just as long as it doesn't go higher then 6.1, i think you can still run a 7.1 just you'll be lacking a speaker, but that's what i think, i don't know that for sure.

6.1 has different connectors in the back

one for each speaker . . .

just leave the center surround open, and youll be fine

ok, i thought you could still use a 7.1 with a 6.1 sound card, oh yeah, that's a great soundcard to buy.

the problem with using 7.1 with a 6 channel sound, you can make it 5.1

the reason is :

6.1 has : Left, Center, Right, Surround Left, Surround Center, surround right

7.1 channel has : left, center, right, surround left, surround center-left, surround center-left, surround right
