Vista's drive tools there make life a bit easier then seen with XP. I still use the Linux drive tool GParted for Vista as well as XP for working with partitions including Linux on occasion.
The links here are a look at the download page for the 0.3.3.0 platform independent release(still nothing newer). Always look for the platform independent label in the architecture column if you ever decide to try it at SourceForge.net: Files

With GParted used you still have two options for later formatting any NTFS type partitions you create namely the DM you now have a grip on and the format option in the repair tools section of the Vista dvd.
