Question about partitioning

I need to make an NTFS partition of exactly 2 GB. My question is, if I type in 2GB, will it be exactly 2GB? Or will it be slightly smaller to allow for formatting such as the Master File Table?

The purpose is for putting my paging file on a second drive.

Make the paging partition slightly larger that 2gb, type in 2100 or something.

1 GB = 1024 MB. So 2GB would = 2048MB. So you should type in 2048 and that should be exactly 2GB.

Yeah, I know how big a gigabyte is. My concern is the formatting. When you buy a 500GB hard drive, for example, after you format it there is much less than 500GB of space to use.

Can anyone tell me how to partition HD in Vista without using external software? Thanks

You need software to partition, even if its a boot disk.
