New Computer for my Friend

Ok. I am will be building new computer for my friend. And this time he want completely up-to-date, the latest.. etc computer.

Here few things that he wants:

Full Tower case. I probably will go with ThermalTake.

Power supply

Mother board w/dual-core processor (fast Processor)

4G memory

500 – 750 G hard drive

Good sound card

Good video card

2 DVD – DL drives (fast)
================
What would you recommend? there is not really price limit at the moment.
For the processor I probably will go with Intel. Or you think some AMD have better chip?
For video I guess I go with 8800.
Whats your ideas?

depends on your budget, if you want high end/budget, you cant go wrong with anything b1g suggested.

if you want more out of your system (high end / performance ) and only want a single card setup, you should look at the P5k deluxe or Asus maximus formula. From what i have seen so far no board overclocks like the maximus (supports 1600FSB, 1200mhz RAM)

For higher end cases, i went with the Cooler master stacker 830 SE. The silver stone cases are also very good, but its all preference.

Well i thought he wanted a completly new and up-to-date computer?

Btw, 4Gb of RAM will only work with 64 bit systems, and with those prepare for a headache as you will need to search for 64 bit compatible programs/drivers.

You would be better off getting 2x1gb kit and a 1gb stick for 3gb total.

Well he thinks he need it. I don't really see the need of 4Gb at the moment. for sure with what he do. He don't game. Just work, movies.. etc.

(Plus like you said. He probably will not want to mess with 64bit)

He just wants good/powerful computer.

I can make few updates to my computer. Maybe like Hard-Drive or something.
Since the other things are ok.
