Hi so my friend wants to install his current motherboard with a new evga 680i board the question i have if when he installs it will he have to reinstall windows?

It is best to reinstall windows. But you can do a windows repair and delete all the old drivers. But if you want to take full advantage of the upgrade, backup, and reinstall.

Hmm but wont he have to activate windows again insint that a problem since he already activated it once before?

Nope. When it asks for activation but won't let you, call Microsoft. Tell them that you had to reinstall windows on the "SAME" computer and that it is only used on this "ONE" computer.

He can activate it again. If he has surpassed the number of activations, he can call MS, to reactivate it.

*edit* Peter got it.

thing is lol he got the OS from a friend but i installed it and tried activateing it any way and it worked so i dont know what will happen if i reinstall it any advice?
