Vista hard drive problems

How do I make it so my hard drives dont spin up and down every couple of seconds. I hate having to wait when trying to open a file or click something a program and hear the hard drive spin up.

Turn off indexing.

Its a simple answer for this Vista problem. Indexing taxes your system but makes searches easier. Turning it off disables the constant drive activity.
