After doing more research on my problem I have discovered this stop error is relatively common and due to a renaming error as Windows updates. One forum went on at great lengths about it occurring primarily while installing a particular update. I followed the instructions to fully install that update from the recovery console with no effect. I fear the only solution is to start over and either install one update at a time, rebooting after each to give the rename a chance to go into effect, or not install most updates. I can't believe an obscure user in SW Montana needs all the security patches. I have formatted about 10 computers and never had this problem before so maybe there is a way to avoid it. Any alternate suggestions?
