Air Filter For Intake

I'd like to put an air filter over the air intake of my case. The intake vent is about 7" long and 3" tall. It's an oval shape. I want to buy a large piece of material at least 8" by 4", and make a custom filter for the intake vent.

Thus, one of those fan filters won't work. Anyone know where I can buy such a thing? It needs to be black.

It won't. I've already tested it with a makeshift filter. Can you offer any help with respect to my question?
