hey guys, I didn't pay attention in the last year on what new stuff came out so I thought i'd stop by and ask around. I lost my old "new" computer when I broke up with my gf (left it for her cuz she had none) even thought I put it together about a year ago...

Case: Thermaltake Tsunami
CPU : Core 2 Duo E6600
Ram: 2GB Dual Channel OCZ Platinum DDR2 800
Video: Evga 7900GT
HDD: Wester Digital Raptor 74 GB 10,000 rpm 16mb cache
HDD2: Wester Digital Caviar 250 GB 7,200rpm 16mb cache
PSU: OCZ Powestream 600W
Heatsink: Zalman 9500
DVD: Plextor
Mobo: can't remember

Thsi setup run me around $2200 and I might wanna build something similar now but don't know what is "NEW" now, help me out here.

Hmm, most of that is ok. Just move up to a 8800GT (or higher if you like) and stick in a Q6600 everything else in that is top notch.

However if you want something thats gonna run you $2200 again, then 2 GT's, an 680i board and a QX maybe.

So your budget is around $2200?

If so base it around
Q6600
SLI 8800gt
2 or 4gb of Crucial Ballistix or G.skill

q6600 g0 stepping ~280
Thermalright ultra 120 extreme w/ fan ~ 85
antec 900 ~ 90AR
p35-ds3r for single card, or evga 680i if you want SLI ~ 150-200
either single 8800 GT or 2 for SLI ~ 280-560 (less if you shop well)
Corsair hx520 ~ 80AR
crucial ballistix ~ 50AR

Did i forget anything? The sli set up should really only be an option if you plan to go with a 20" or bigger monitor, otherwise a single GT should be plenty.

Also, on a sidenote, you are a better man than i am. Leaving a 2200 dollar computer behind after breaking up, heh, no way.

dont get the antec 900...especially if your going SLI, i've heard that its really bad for wire management.
Try going with the antec p182 or cm stacker 230....you could also get the cm 690.

The rest has already been suggested:
q6600 go stepping
2X8800gt
680i sli mobo
4X1gb ballistix
520 or 620w psu.

Meh wire management is over rated. As long as its not blocking air flow theres no issues. And the 900 should work out great for SLI as it has a fan right next to the video cards.

well the stackers got 4 fans on the side which will be really effective.
And the CM 690 can have upto 7-8X120mm fans
out of the 7 slots, you can have 4X140mm fans on it...totally awesome since its so cheap..
