OK, I've never built a computer before, although i understand the basic components and the most i've done is install RAM and a video card.

Newegg.com - Seagate Barracuda ES ST3500630NS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM

Ram(x2): (The reason im getting 4 gb is because ill be running vista)

Fans(x2):
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER R4-L2S-122B-GP 120mm 4 BLUE LED LED Case Fan - Retail

My question is, is this a good build? Can I get a better bang for my buck? And will these parts be difficult to install considering I've never built a computer before.

if you wait a few days, the 8800GT will be out, and the performance is pretty close to that of a gtx
and if your gettting vista, it has to be 64 bit to use 4 gb

get these:

Newegg.com - Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

and a better Motherboard..
Newegg.com - ABIT IP35 LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

get a Tuniq Tower 120.. since the Zalman's are way overpriced for what they do (don't get me wrong.. its great cooler... its just a luxury brand to me)

agreed with Nosboost on the 8800gt...

Normally I'd say the PSU is overkill.. but since your getting it for 65$ (with rebate and the Combo deal..) I say go for it..

Newegg.com - LITE-ON Black 20X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 20X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache IDE 20X DVD±R DVD Burner - OEM

this is a good deal on the DVD-RW too..

you mean for two SLi'ed 8800gt?

that maybe a good idea.. and i just noticed that the 680i LT is $130...

I don't really want SLI, and the speakers, I'm not gonna spend money on 5.1 Speakers, my desk space is way too small for them.

If no SLI, then definately switch the motherboard out for a P35 one. The one vernong1992 recommended is decent.
