Hey everybody,
I need to update the storage of my work station, as my hard drives I use at the moment are getting too small (2*250gb SATA 2 Samsung Spin Point)

I want to update it with one 500gb HDD and adding another one of the same type in the near future.

But I can´t make a decission, the seagate, samsung and western digital HDDs are all rated pretty good.

Which would you prefer to buy?

Thank you very much for your help,

Regards,
Michael

there is only 2 real choices here "samsung or seagate" the Samsung is 0.x ms faster but the Seagate comes with a 5 year warranty. Your decision they are both excellent drives

I prefer Seagate's warranty over any hard drive company. Western Digital has a great 750GB HDD though.

WD and Hitachi are very unremarkable in terms of hdd manufacture the only exceptional one is the WD 750gb. Whatever you do don't buy Maxtor!!! you haven't mentioned them yet but just don't go their to warn you :D

The fastest 7200rpm 500gb currently available is the 7200.11 Seagate 500gb. It has just come out and is VERY fast. 32mb cache as well.
