Underpowering a gpu can cause the psu to fry and when psu's die, they often take other parts with them. So its a good idea to make sure your psu can handle the video card's power demands.

well, after a discussion on AIM with b1gapl, i'm gonna settle with an nVidia 7900 GS, can play all my games on high settings and will run really smoothly, a PSU upgrade isn't 100% necessary, but i might..
