Need Capture Card Advice

Hey there. Long time no post. I want a video capture card that I can use to capture my Xbox 360 in 720p or 1080i through either component or HDMI. Besides Blackmagic's Intensity HD card (the one with hdmi that retails for like $250 - $300) are there any other cards or break out boxes I could look at buying. I'm on a budget of less than $150 and simply want to capture my 360 in high def.

Since HD is the new animal out expect some high prices there. One tv tuner card used here uses Ultra tv and excepts input from 75ohm RCA or analog through the phono plugs. That would be AVerMedia 1500 MCE model but won't run on Vista.

However now they have renamed Ultra TV to AVerTVHD MCE as seen at Newegg.com - Open Box: AVerMedia AVerTVHD MCE A180 (White Box)PCI Digital TV Tuner Card That's an open box deal there.

You can buy a a better video card with VIVO so you'll get better gaming performance as well.

So are you suggesting I use an adapter and patch the Xbox 360 through the TV HDTV input on the card? Would that allow me to record in high def? Sorry, I don't know much along the lines of TV tuners and such.

With an HD capable tuner card you will usually see pvr portion of the software for viewing as well as on the spot recording into mpeg II or avi format. The suggestion to go with a higher end gaming card will bring the price up quite a bit higher then a separate pci or usb type tuner/capture device.
