WD 750GB is a very fast 7200RPM hard drive

With peak data rates up to 95 MB/s, the 750 GB top-of-the-line member in the Caviar SE 16 family is the fastest 7,200 RPM hard disk we've seen in our test labs to date. Even the median value of nearly 75 MB/s is on a par with that of the 10,000 RPM Raptor drive WD1500, and its minimal transfer rates clearly trump those of the competition.

There isn't anything faster for a laptop than 7200RPM...but for desktops there's the Western Digital Raptor, at 10,000RPM, but doesn't have the capacity enough to make it worthwhile, since I've heard that most 750GB drives @ 7200RPM perform the same...am I correct on that part?

you can also get 15,000rpm drives for desktops for those extreme reductions in loading times for games lol. SSD will also be faster then a traditional hdd for reading but I believe slower for writing
