Hi, I've never built a computer from scratch before and I was wondering if you guys could give me some ideas for a good build. I'm in the 2,000-2,500 price range. I'm pretty set on the intel chip set. I also am monitor shopping and I want something that will go HD. Thanks and any help is appreciated.

q6600
8800ultra
750gb Western Digital HD
Tuniq Tower 120 or TRUE (thermalright ultra extreme 120)
PC Power and Cooling 610
Antec 900 (replace with your case preference)
Newegg.com - Acer AL2016W Bb Black 20" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 800:1 - Retail
you could easily fit a 22'' monitor in that budget, also a P5k Deluxe motherboard and when you get the TRUE don't forget 2 x 120mm/140mm
Cooler Master 690 and NZXT zero are sweet cases, sorry but i'm really not a fan of that 900

22" is too large for myself...I just don't like it becuase an 8800GTS runs like a GTX in 19inch when a GTX is in 22.

lol sora you really <3 ur 19'', the ultra can pwn the 22''
the reason i need 22 is because i like movies and its a superuberwafflebbqpwnage NEED to hit all those notes on GH3

for 2500 u should get

cpu: q6600
ram: gskill hz's or crucial balistix's
mobo: gigabyte ds3r p35
psu: corsair 620w
gpu: 8800ultra or gtx
cpu cooler: tuniq tower or termaright 120 extreme
hdd: seagate 320gb 16mb cache x2
case: nzxt lexa black line
dvd drive: pioneer make good ones or samsung/asus
monitor: 22' samsung are the best
keyboard n mouse: g7/g15

vernongs buils seems to be a good start, not sure bout the monitor tho. everything else is great the other components are not a big impact on performace eg, hdd so u can choose ur own from there.
