nope, ran memtest - multiple versions multiple times already.
that was one of the first things i tried... and it checked out just fine.

When you go into your bios is it stable then or does it hang also? Have you tried setting your bios to default? How much rem do you have in your system? If you have two sticks take one out and try to install then. I know this sounds weird but I've had to do that. Then after I get things installed I put the ram back in. That's usually in an older board but its worth a try.

naw bios is stable, and yes, ive tried installing with 1 stick, to no avail. but not with linux, so ill give that a shot asap.
thanks for your help guys, im pretty much down to the motherboard i think...
