anyway to repair a damaged partitiion?

I had a partitioning misshap. While trying to redistrribute free space to make two volumes the same size, something happened and now the second volume is unformatted.

Both my partition programs tell me I can format it. But that means I will lose all the data on that volume (107GB of songs, movies, and games).

I can't access the volume through windows explorer, I get "is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect". And my partitioner gives me " Error#1507, Bad File Record Signature".

Is there anyway of fixing the partition file record?

try doing a system restore.

Don't do system restore because won't do anything at all but make it worse, plus XP during the last 1-3 days will have no hard record of partition and its data.
