sound hardware not registering

This is a bit different though, his sound stopped working after a windows crash not through messing with hardware. I almost wonder if the cause of the crash might have been the board taking a dump.

I guess something got wrecked, because I can't seem to get the icemat soundcard to work on any other pc (i assume it's fried) and after reformatting this HD, I can't get it to work still.

I wish I knew of a way to tell that it was fried without going through the reformat. Sorry to hear that.

I suppose you could've ran some continuity tests, but that would've probably been a more pain in the butt than formatting.
