WinXP home - can't enable "show hidden files"

hello there!

I'm running windows Xp home edition and I can't change the "show hidden files"
option...I'm going to tools > folder options > view > I check the "show hidden
files", i press apply then ok but I still can't see the hidden files. I go back to the
folder options and the setting is back to "do not show hidden files". I have only
one account on my pc so i'm the administrator...

This thing is used to work few months ago...but I haven't used it for awhile and
now i needed it so I found out the problem...

any ideas??!

Are you trying to veiw hidden or SYSTEM files?

If its not what TheEnd187 said then restart your computer in safe mode and then try to change the option.
