DirectX 10 Performance Update: Is DX10 Really Worth It?

Pretty interesting.....you can see ATI REALLY need to sort out their DX10 performance as it basically...sucks. The 8800 GTS 640Mb almost 400% faster than a 2900 XT on page 6..............The 2900xt runs at a very playable 6.2 fps at 1280 x 1024

Also shows some huge differences between the 320mb and 640mb 8800GTS in resolutions as low as 1280x1024...I've been saying over and over the 640mb is going to be useful once DX10 games begin coming out...but everyone continued to shoot me down :p

Unfortunately as it stands right now, we aren't seeing the true potential of AMD's DX10 hardware due to immature drivers, so we can't even speculate on how the Radeon HD 2900 XT performs in comparison to the GeForce 8800 from NVIDIA.

**** you ati... **** you, this really makes my judgement on getting a 2900xt much harder

Consider the X2900PRO, it'll cost about the same as a 320MB 8800GTS and can overclock to XT levels.

The way I see things now, Nvidia doesn't have any competition as far as the 640MB 8800GTS, 8800GTX and 8800ULTRA are concerned. However, the X2900PRO is still very promising if you're looking within that budget.

The OP's link to benchmarks supports this more or less

bah.. i'm stubborn and don't feel like settling for a pro.. and if it is as limited production as they say... i don't want it, seeing as i plan on a crossfire future
