Motherboard Upgrade?-Help needed

I am planning to upgrade my mobo.
I am planning to get Asrock P4165GV.
But I am skeptical whether the new mobo supports my existing processor or not.
The mobo I wanna buy supports socket 478 processor(Prescott ready) and has Intel 865GV chipset.
.........eagerly waiting for ur replies.:D

Intel website says that the chipset supports 400MHZ System bus.
Did Northwoods come with 400MHZ?
If so will the mobo support my Willamette?
As the mobo is acually built around the chipset, I think those compatible with the chipset are also compatible with the mobo.
Anyone here to contradict that?

You have to make sure that the sockets are the same and they have the same FSB.

CPU Socket 478, Intel Pentium 4 (Northwood/Prescott) /Celeron
FSB 800/533/400 MHz

It looks like it supports the Presscott, Northwood and celeron procs. See the FSB supports 400mhz. I dont think it will support the Willamette.

Maybe but I still have a little hope.
Well, any more replies?
Btw, can any one suggest a mobo for my processor.

Willamettes have 423 pins while the motherboard supports socket 478 . The best thing to do is buy the motherboard and a Northwood Pentium 4.

What does this mean if the Willamette consists of only 423 pins as
Northbridge said. I am confused.

Yeah I used many utilities including the ones by Intel.
All of them say that my Processor has 256kb L2 cache.
BTW, does any Northwood run at 1.6GHZ?
I think Northwoods start from 1.7GHZ.

There are Northwoods that run at 1.6 GHz with a 400 MHz bus . Your motherboard supports a 478 pin processor . I have now actually found there are some Williamette models on the 478 . So the board and processor won't have any compatibility issues .
