I would either go for a X1950PRO off Overclockers.co.uk, or Gurusans 7900GT, which is a steal for the price.

my 7900GT absolutely destroys the x1950pro

wait... since when does an 7950gt beat x1950xt.... i'm sure the xt beats gt's all the time... unless you overclocked yours heavily....

also don't hate on the 8600gt....

The 1950xt normally does beat GT's..but yes mine is overclocked. It came stock overclocked to 580core and I've reflashed it to 640mhz (sits at 675mhz happily as well). Also the memory does 1840mhz stable which gives it loads more memory bandwidth than the 8600GT could ever have due to its crippled 128bit memory interface.

In fact in 3dmark06 my 7900GT scores higher than most overclocked x1950xtx GDDR4 in Sm2 and SM3 tests i've seen.

At stock the x1950 series wins, no debate...but overclocked then 7900GT really takes off above 600mhz core...and reliability isn't an issue because I haven't touched the voltage at all.
