I noticed my work computer is at 1.70 for cpu voltage setting. This seems rather high. I have overclocked the 1.5 AMD just a hair. Stable temps run about 52 C. Does the voltage setting increase make my cpu hotter?

52 Degrees is fine for your CPU.

Increased voltages make CPU's stable when they are being overclocked.

Most people when overclocking modify the multiplier or FSB MHz speed, when the system starts becoming unstable then you should increase the voltage slightly - keep your eye on the temperature.
