Hi, I just decided to put my system through a 3Dmark06 and I got 7700 marks; wierd thing is I should be getting at least 10k. this is my system:

AMD Athlon X2 5200
2 GB 800 4-4-4
GeForce 8800 GTS 640 mb

One of the things I have noticed is that my PCIe slot is set to 8x and of course it should be 16x but I also just updated to a new processor, I had a 3800 but I remember putting my system through 3Dmark06 with that processor and getting 10k marks. I've been trying for a week to set my PCIe slot to 16x but I just havent been able too... Is there anything else that might be hampering my systems performance?

An AMD has to be overclocked pretty far, as well as the 8800GTS getting a good overclock, to reach 10k. You mean 3800+ single or dual core? And what was it overclocked too?

It was Dual core, and was at stock settings.

you know it might have been 3Dmark05... I'm not sure, but I still think I should be getting a higher score. I've been looking around and most people will hit 8k no prob on stock settings...

Try using the latest drivers for your 8800GTS. I believe they just released new ones.

make sure your card is in the primary PCIE slot, your mobo will say PCIE_16x_1 or something of the sort next to the slot

anyways, with my 4200+, I hit around 8200 stock everything, so you should be getting higher, I hit nearly 9000 overclocked

with my pc and a 8800GTS 640mb i got over 9k so id say 10k with a x2 5200 is achievable

I just double checked if my 8800 was in the correct slot; and I am 100% sure its in the correct PCI slot. I think I need to change something in the BIOS to set it to 16x. However I have no idea which option to change; I've changed nearly all of them so far and none have worked. Using riva tuna I got this diagnostic report:

Could that be the problem?

Just to let you know, when i had my e6550 at stock and 8800gts 340mb, my score was 9017.
So dont even think about getting to 10K unless you do A LOT of OC.
