DOn't know whether to put this on Linux or Windows Sections... but ya w/e

i wanna master linux... and plan on using my system (running XP Currently) and virtually run Linux on VirtualPC.. it won't cause lag to my system right??

Stick with Ubuntu. It's known to be the easiest, for Linux beginners. And is very user friendly.

I found Mandriva or arklinux better for beginners to intermediate as it is similar to a windows layout

these are the ones I like:
pclinux
Ubuntu
knoppix
freespire
fedora

if you want something similar to a mac experience:
Dreamlinux

Here is a great website this a link to there screenshots section to help you choose the right user environment for you

ok.. thanks guys... i'm planning on getting Ubuntu or ManDriva... can't decide... so i'll take the both... but how much ram should i give up... (i only have 768mb) or should i wait to learn this til next year when i get a new system?

768mbyte is ok for xp if you don't run any other programms simultaneously with virtual pc. 1GB would be flawless though for xp.
