Hi,

I am currently doing reserch for a multimedia performance setup which requires 4 PC's. Im not the most knowledgeable on the subject so i thought i'd get your advice. How much do you think i could buy or build (whichever will be cheaper) this spec for?

Intel Pentium 4 at 1.5 GHz or equivalent AMD processor.
• USB port.
• Wake on LAN.
• 512 MB of RAM.
• AGP 4X or PCI Express 16X video card slot.
• IDE or SATA hard disk interface, supporting DMA transfers.
• 60 GB hard disk fully utilizing the above hard disk interface.
• 100 MBit Ethernet card supporting “Wake on LAN”.
• A modern ATI or nVidia graphics card with 64 MB of video memory.
• High quality sound card or built-in audio support.
• Windows XP Home Edition.

Your help is much appreciated,
Many thanks
Adam

computer + monitor/mice/keyboards for every one?

i said "MAX" for a reason. lol.. i wasn't sure, that was just a rough estimate.

media center? network it and get a dual core, then run 2 setups over 1

add 1 gig ram to each instead of 512 for 4

get 10,000 rpm hds if you can afford it, otherwise stick with 7200

those requirements seem like the ones for Heroes 5..

but w/e

thats a bit underpowered for a media center

get a dual core atleast- x2 4000+
board: biostar tforce550
8600gt
some case
like 2gb RAM

he should find a cheap server setup (mobo and cpu) rather then using mainstream stuff

or maybe get the opty 165 on a socket 939 board and oc it a bit till its somewhat decent, a much cheaper alternative

you could follow the same route with an lga 775 board with an e4300
