You should just try to play the game on your current PC first. Then if you want better performance upgrade when the stuff you want is actually on the market.
i am playing crysis on my current pc and it blows, i want high settings with good fps not medium with bearble, i think il go 4200+ and get an ultra. cause il be defenitaly gettign a high end cpu, when the phenoms come out.

How in the world are you playing Crysis on your computer right now when it's not even released yet and the demo isn't out until the 25th.
Are you playing a Beta version? Or a leaked demo?
beta, it runs fairly well i would assume this will be the performence level of it, just a litle more refined with the final release.
Same, on my opty 165 at 2.8ghz, 2 gig of ram, 2x 7900GS sli, i am running all medium detail except for water, texture and physics which are high detail and im getting around 30 fps. It looks good but not great, and plays good but not great.
With my same setup except with my 8800gts 640mb, i am running all high and getting around 40-50fps. It plays great and looks amazing. Still some lag in some high intense battles though.
With my hd2900xt, it runs almost identical to my 8800 but fps is a little slower, more like 35-40.
I think my CPU is the overall bottleneck. While it is dual core, 2mb cache and clocked at 2.8 ghz, it just doesnt compare with an intelC2D and their 1333fsb and 2-4mb caches.
So on your 8800GTS 640MB you're running all high and getting 40-50fps? Wow. What resolution? I have the 320MB version, but I don't play higher then 1280x1024 so that shouldn't be an issue.
And I have a quad core, which Crysis apparently supports!
Looks like I'm set!
