Just wondering about a few things.

I am building computer for medium gaming. I have an unused windows xp disc and want to use the extra $$$ for better equipment. But...

Having windows XP, how will playing dx10 games be affected? Will my performance be affected greatly? Or will i not be able to play at all?

I am thinking of just going with a good dx9 card anyway. So will all this not even matter? :) (cant fit an 8800 into the budget without skimping on something)

Will I be missing out on anything other than the "multi-media experience" by not having vista on a new computer?

thats all :).

XP cant play DX10 games. So you will not be affected at all. Cause you will not be able to play them.

Not at all eh? So there aren't any options to play them in dx9 at all?

Sorry if its a dumb question :p.

also.... if i do decide to get vista later on... can i play dx10 games with a dx9 card? (like a 7900gs) or do i need a dx10 card too?

thanks

Nope DX10 games can not run on XP. If the game is designed to also run on DX9 then yes you can use your 7900 card and play them. But if not you will have to find a hack or patch out there to get the games to play.
