Could it be, that the raw speed of the RAM, helps along with it? Since speed is better for Intels.

I don't think so. Not with the lack of memory controllers, anyway.

The boatloads of cache C2D's have probably does a lot for superpi, though not nearly as much in other areas (like floating point calculations, which is a strength of AMD)

yeah and i do notice that when i have my memory frequency cranked up vs tight timings it typically does better in super pi, sometimes significantly. really i notice the biggest difference when the cpu is overclocked, more than the ram.
ie i can be running the crap out of my ram with a small cpu overclock and not get as good of results as a big cpu overclock and little or no ram increase.

The differences in memory speed and timings does more for K8 systems than for Core 2 systems, due to the memory controller.

wow, that's terrible. I would have thought even a Pentium 4 would do better at 3.3GHZ. Netburst is generally better in integer performance than in most other areas.
