Hello Folks


I am having one H... of a time trying to get Windows XP Home sp2 installed on my computer , it a new retail version. A OEM version will install without a hitch. After
it gets to the part where setup copies files to windows install folders then restarts it hangs (freezes) on the windows logo screen. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try another Installation disc.

Clean the disk and check it for scratches.

or switch the cd-rom drive

Something kinda similar to this happened while I was fixing somebody's PC for them. I tried different discs, different cd-rom drive, and a different HDD. It turned out it was one of the sticks of RAM. This could be one thing that you could try.

I would have said that next. it usually bad disc, bad rom drive, bad hdd or bad ram.

Every time this has happened to me it's been either bad ram or incompatible ram, mostly the latter. Might want to double check that.

If the OEM installs but not the retail, I'd say we've got a bad disc
