Is this Video card decent for gamiing?

why do people keep talking crap aobut the 8600's..... mine plays every game at 1680x1050 just fine...

....every game? Which games in particular?

and define "just fine". They are decent cards but in no means powerful, and I would imagine later games like Bioshock to cause them to struggle quite a bit. BTW did you ever get around to running 3dmark06?

well the gts is like a 7900gs... but an 8600gt.. is crap

I've heard some people they were able to max out bioshock settings at highest resolutions on a 8600gts 512.

lol that would be me.. i played the bioshock demo (DX9) with everything maxed out... played flawlessly...

my native of 1680x1050... there are no anti-aliasing option on in the game to choose from, or anisotropic

as for other games.. i play cs:s at 1680x1050 with 8xCSAA 16xAF, and i also play dark messiah at 1680x1050 2xAA 8xAF and everything runs just fine.. i may get the occassional stutter at times, but i blame that on the 1 gig of ram... cuz i had the same problem with my x1950xtx until i upgraded to a 2nd gig of ram... condemned full blast, 1680x1050 4xAA 8xAF also runs butter smooth

I'm thinking of purchasing an ATi Card to fold, and I'm not sure which ATi card to get. How does your x1950xtx run?

thats good.. and its 512mb so no fold issues.... nice price too.. wait til u overclock it to XTX Speeds
