hi folks! i have a problem that probably started by coincidence when i tried to create a drive image. however, having re-installed the original disk, the problem is still there.
i have an abit av8 mobo that has always behaved very well. now, whenever i do a windows reboot or f10 after making changes in the bios, the reboot begins and then the sytem hangs; not completing the reboot or switching off.
the way out is to press the reset button which works most of the time but not always. i am tempted to believe that whatever switch (and this is beyond my knowledge or experience) that achieves the reboot has gone belly up!!
anyone have any ideas? motherboard?/case switch? can these be repaired without paying pc world £zillions per hour?
i have a post code display on the mobo that stops at "25" on each occasion. all i can see in the manual against this number is:
early pci initialization:
-enumerate pci bus number.
-assign memory & i/o resource
-search for a valid vga device & vga bios, and put it into c000:0
...all of which is meaningless to me!!

any similar experiences please? (don't have a spare case at the moment)
