How to make computer quiet?

Hi, are there ways to control my processor and video card's fan speeds when i'm not playing games? I want my computer to be as quiet as possible. I think most the noise comes from my 7600GT's fan, rivatuner is set @ 25% but honestly I'd rather have it off if possible, it's too loud still. This could be software or hardware mods, any and all recommendations welcome short of duck taping my video card.

Having the graphic card's fan off, isn't a good idea, even if it's idling. It could get quite warm. I'd say get a quieter HSF, like the Zalman VF900.

I really wouldn't suggest you to turn your 7600GT's fan off. My 7600GT fan is at 100% and all I'm hearing is my 80mm exhaust fan.

I second the Zalman VF900. I can't even hear it on 100% when I'm right next to it. It is **** quiet.

GPU fans can be annoying, but I'd rather be annoyed by a stock gpu fan than a $200 gpu burning out on me. I run mine on my x1950pro at 100% when I have my OC profile running, and it sounds like a hairdryer.

try a VF-900

you could also try rubber gromits and Dyna-mats to stop vibration of the case and other loud stuff....
