hey all, I just went out and got a Toshiba Satellite. It comes with a wireless card in it but the issue is im getting speeds of like 40-60kb/s. I haven't directly connected to the router but when I connected with my desktop pc i would be getting speeds around 160-170. i'm right infront of the router so the distance isn't an issue.. so if someone could give me some insight on whats happening that would be great :D Also it starts off at around 160-170 then drops way down.

im going to say wireless speeds are slower than cabled speeds, thats true for me but im not sure about everyone else

are you sure what about netgears routers which are incredibly fast?

The usefull wireless bandwidth is 70% of the announced. For instance the useful bandwidth of 802.11G is 0.7*54Mbps=37.8Mbps. This is without considering the radio conditions of the network.

yeah, no point using wireless if you can just as easily use ethnert
