i havnt had time to look at all the reveiws but just a quick skim and it looks like theyre comparing the 256mb NON o/c version ill look better tommorow when i have time, thx for the links

First of all the extra video memory doesn't many any difference in terms of performance

The GDDR4 version have 800/2200 speed at stock

HIS HD2600XT has 830/1920, this means that it has higher clock speed but slower memory than HD2600XT (GDDR4)

The one that was tested in the reviews is the HD2600XT GDDR4 version

you're not looking in the right places, you need to find an online retailer that has prices up to date. an x1950PRO should be no more than $20 more than an inferior 8600GT... Forget the mid-range of this generation of graphics cards, IT'S GARBAGE. The 8600GT is a 7600GT in performance that can run DX10, it's not a good value at all, don't even consider it, the 2600XT is apparently worse...

Sapphire even has a 1950PRO selling for $157 canadian dollars!! The cheapest 8600GT that I could find (without mail-in-rebate) was $176!!!

I don't see why this same price ratio wouldn't translate to your New Zealand dollars

i dont know why the prices in this countrty are so screwed up but i have ordered a 8600 gt fatal1ty for half the price of the x1950.
