It's not a weird type of socket, but I believe you need a special motherboard to support them. Also available from VIA.

That's because Via is not mainstream.
The sockets you listed are AMD and Intel sockets. (if you meant 775 and not 755)

I think this is going to be put on Micro ATX form mobo's some of the new ones have the processor permanently attached to the board.

No not upgradable but Micro ATX computers are normally designed to fill one purpous like a home entertainment PC in the living room, or a Car computer so there not designed for heavy work like folding or heavy gameing.

I was going to build a Micro ATX rig for my home but decided agenst it I would rather use my HP hidden behind the TV. This is because I am going to put my current rig out to stud when I build my new one.

my mobo is Micro ATX but its in a ATX case, when i built this system 8 months ago i didnt really know what i was doing

Well not all Micro ATX board's have there cpu solderd directly to the board some allow you to remove it, What board did you go with?
