Hello, this is my 1st post so go easy.

my graphics card has suddenly started to overheat causing my pc to reboot. my screen goes all starburst just before it crashes. i managed to keep the heat down uing a house hould fan but i want to perminantly fix it if possible

other than the house hold fan i have a heatsink and a fan just for the gfx card

iv also tried a differentcard and all works well

the card with the problem is a nvidea 6200.

sorry if this makes no sence :p

sorry if this sounds noobie :p

on the box for the card it says:

asus n6200 GeForce 256

edit: oh and iv had the pc about 2 since about 2005 but the card hasnt been used for about a year due to this problem

ok first off did you buy your pc as a whole unit? if so is the warranty still running? if not then your option is to either:

1. buy a new graphics card

2. remove the heatsink reapply some thermal paste and put heatsink back on.

well i brought it as a whole unit but it was custom built anyway. and the guarentee has expired i think.

do you think the thermal paste will have much affect?

clear white.< -- the paste

the actual metal thing that sits on top isnt dusty

(sry for the noobie expression xD)
