Computer not recognizing all Ram

I'm positive that they are 512 sticks because PC Wizard shows that there is 1024 installed. I spoke to sony about it and they had no idea about what they were talking about. He just kept saying get compatible ram. If i had to say I had compatible ram one more time i was going to hit the guy through the computer. I was going to eventually flash the bios but i was just checking if there was something else that could be done
