Ok, so i have a tight budget, under $2,000
I have been out of the loop for a lil while and am unsure of what the best bang for your buck deals are out there.
Im after a C2D, was thinking e6600 maybe.
Im insure what mobo is best to get with C2D, last i heard p5b was a good buy.
And ill probably go with a mid range Nvidia 8 series card.

So if anyone can give me some input to better use my money to get the best gaming PC i can, id appreciate it. Im after the following

CPU, MoBo, GPU, Ram 2gigs, PSU, and hard drive. as far as OS goes, id like to stick with XP.

Also whats the best CPU fan to get these days, Zalman 9700 still any good?

ok first off. 2,000 is NOT a tight budget.

I would suggest and

E6750
P35-DS3R
8800GTX
2GB Crucial Ballistix Ram
Antec 900/ or full sized case

just as a start...

I was thinking CM stacker 830 case, since it has alot of room for fans and expansion, and is the q6600 worth getting over the 6750?

You have a high budget, so Q6600 is the way to go. And the CPU cooler to get for that, is the Tuniq.

For your budget, I would suggest:

Case - Cooler Master Stacker 832 (From zipzoomfly.com)
Motherboard - Gigabyte P35-DS3R
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad (From ClubIT.com)
RAM - 2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800
Graphics - EVGA 8800GTS 320MB
Power Supply - PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610w (From zipzoomfly.com)
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB 16MB Cache
Optical Drive - Sony NEC Optiarc DVD Buner
Optional Aftermarket HSF - Tuniq 120 (From svc.com)

Comes to around $1500 give or take. Then save the rest, for future upgrades.

LMAO... 2k is a "very loose" build ;)

I'd second all of b1gapl's links. If he didn't write out all the links, I would have, so his suggestion is the best.

Heh, you guys from the US are so spoilt with your fancy low low prices. I should give immigration some thought...

**** right we are. I've been gone for 8 months. I can't tell you just how convenient drive-thru's, Wal*Mart, Home Depot, online shopping are. Just finding sandpaper was a 2 hour adventure.

So the 8800gtx isnt worth the extra $$
and i love everything else

So what i have so far is
Q6600
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
Cooler Master Stacker 832
Sony NEC Optiarc DVD Buner
CORSAIR CMPSU-520HX
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB 16MB Cache
8800gtx or 8800gts
2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800
Tuniq 120

Looks good so far, i appreciate the suggestions.
