Yes it will work. Motherboard supports the Socket 940 Opteron CPU. I don't let that word "server" intimidate me. To me, it's just another desktop PC.

you should really consider a e6550 which well have similar o/c abilities and save u a lil cash to spend on maybe a af7 if ur not already getting a cooler.

while i would LOVE to get one of these new age mobo/cpu's i just cant, three days ago i put down $130 for old style ddr1 184pin ram, so my mobo will HAVE to be compatable to these, i kinda screwed myself

Is there any way of returning your RAM for store credits? That's if, you bought your RAM at stores such as Fry's, Circuit City, CompUSA..

I bought it at fry's, but in my past dealings with them they dont like giving cash back or even store credit =/ but i can try i guess

u could go with the opteron 165 w/ some socket 939 board which still uses PCI-e and ddr 400
